I found it interesting to hear about the war from his point of view. Also, now that I know that "Dulce Et Decorum Est Pro Patria Mori" means "It is Sweet and Right to Die For One's Country", it makes more sense. he explains in detail the ugly side of war (is there an un-ugly side?) Anyway, the last part says "The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori. Knowing what it means helps us understand how much he was against war (in my opinion).
