Dr. Rahman, I figured I would create a topic since there seemed to be people who are ready to post.

I've seen this movie a couple of times and there is alot of information that you can take from it. To hear that it is in the comedy section (previous post) is pretty upsetting. I don't think that this is a comedy, althought maybe some facts may seem so hard to believe and are told in a way to be semi-comical. Seeing the footage of people on fire, kids dying, bodies being dragged through the streets does not scream comedy. Seeing this DVD again first off makes you wonder how things would be if Bush was never elected. With so much in question with just his election into office, I wonder where we would be if the wasnt in office. There are so many layers of corruption that are explained in the video, his ties to people that just happen to be in a position to help him. It seems very unfair that the african american representatives objections in congress in regards to the election were heard and dismissed. On the day of his inauguration people protested. This movie states that within the first 8 months of being in office he was on vacation about 42% of the time. During that time he was handed documents about possibilities of terrist activity. I think the fact that he was on vacation for this amount of time is atrocious. Sure he was probably under stress with the amount of responsibility he had, but that is what he chose to do. In this time he did not meet with anyone to discuss the nations security against terrorism. To me, it seems logical that a lot of blame be placed on him, he represents out entire country.

On September 11, 2001, after being told about the first plane hitting, he chose to take a photo opportunity at a school in Florida. Maybe he didn't realize the severity of the situation? How about after he was told about the second airplane and that the nation was under attack? What did he do..... he read a book with children and just sat there. We look to our president to have plans in place to protect us and he was sitting there pondering what to do. Even if he was confused, I don't think staying there was the correct choice.

Another subject brought up was about the Bin Laden family being flown out of the country after the attack. How is it that all flights in the country were canceled, while the family of the person who is responsible is allowed to leave our country? I understand that there were many people that may want to harm them, but as the former FBI employee stated, it is standard to at least question them to find out if there was any involvement and to ask them general questions. When something so serious as 9/11 takes place happens, how does this get overlooked? There is no excuse.

As for the war, it seems as though the main focus was not to spread democracy and freedom the people of Iraq, but to get to the valuable oil there. It was amazing how quickly plans were put into place to build a pipeline to get natural gas from the area and to protect the oil. It just doesn't look good. If the war was only for oil and not to make the world a better place, than I believe that the war is not justified. How can you explain to people who have lost loved ones that we needed oil? I also believe that we were misled. We were consistantly given mixed information. Before the attack we were told that they did not have the ability use weapons of mass destruction, but after the attack our sources say that they had weapons of mass destruction? Did we find any?

It is sad that the people who have the least are asked to give the most... their lives. As the film portrayed, military recruiters focus on low income people to recruit. I understand that this maybe an opportunity for them to get a grant to go to college, but to me it just seems immoral. The fact is, this will always be the case. I also agree that this movie obviously has a biased view, but it also provides some solid facts. If you are wondering about the other side of the story, why not rent FarenHYPE 9/11 and make up your own mind? This movie was made in response to Michael Moore's documentary. I will be renting this as well so that I can hear both opinions/sides of the story and make up my own mind as to what I believe.
