26.4] The Jewish Question and Zionism, Theodore Hertzel
This reading is an interesting commentary on the anti-semitism in Europe and surrounding countries preceding the second World War. Of course one can't help but interpret this document as an ominous foreshadowing of major events to come. Hertzel's views can only be described as extreme however. He promotes the "self-exile" of the Jewish people to a contained, separate state as a solution to overcoming discrimination. This is obviously a problematic solution for many reasons. In my opinion, Hertzel's suggestion resembles the seperatism and exclusion of the Nazi regime a little too closely...
